T-Mobile USA and RIM Introduce the New BlackBerry Curve 8520 Approachable New Smartphone Offers Email, Messaging, Social Networking, Music and Entertainment for People on the Go
BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON and WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 27, 2009) - T-Mobile USA, Inc., and Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ:RIMM)(TSX:RIM) today announced the new BlackBerry Curv 8520 smartphone, a new addition to the BlackBerry Curve series of smartphones, with availability expected on August 5.
The slim new BlackBerry Curve 8520 is an incredibly approachable smartphone that comes in two attractive colors from T-Mobile - black and frost. For people who like to be connected, it provides easy mobile access to email, messaging (IM, SMS, MMS) and popular social networking sites (including Facebook and MySpace) and features a highly tactile full-QWERTY keyboard for comfortable, accurate typing. It also features rich multimedia capabilities and access to music, games and other mobile apps for entertainment on the go.

Yeah, we’ve already confirmed that the BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be dropping on T-Mobile next month but while the Tour trolls are occupied with a flurry of new fodder, why not take a moment to enjoy it once again? Mmmmm, optical trackpad. T-Mobile customers are often forced to wait what seems like ages for hot new devices so it’s always nice to see what looks like a timely release shaping up. Today, another piece of the puzzle slides into place as the sleek little handset receives the FCC’s blessing. Yay. So, T-Moblers, is the Tour going to be enough to pull you away from Tmo or will you be showing off your budget, optical trackpad-rocking 8520 with Pink pride? Cu, Cu, Curve?
Rumors have been flying for weeks about release dates for the upcoming BlackBerry Tour 9630 and Curve 8520 and today some new info surfaced on both. Neither of these dates are official from carriers, however BGR has said the Curve 8520 should hit T-Mobile USA sometime in Q4, and notable Verizon tipster Kevin Byrne has posted that the 9630 Tour will land on Verizon the week of July 13th.
First off let me start this with a huge shout out my the folks at BoyGenius. They just got some hands on time with the now infamous BlackBerry 8520 (code-named Gemini). Optical trackball? Ooooh yeah. Early impressions are definitely fitting in with what CrackBerry reported; real solid feel and the optical trackball is awesome and makes your brand new BlackBerry feel outdated. Literally. It makes what you have feel primitive. They’ve been able to confirm the handset is going to hit T-Mobile USA in Q4 of this year, obviously don’t have a price yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see this device hit one of those “BlackBerry In A Box” thingamajigs. It’s definitely aimed at the low-cost/emerging market segment, so it’s a bit odd T-Mobile USA will carry it out the gate
