Verizon Officially Releases OS 5.0.0.328 For The BlackBerry Storm 9530!

Finally, the waiting and anticipation is over. Verizon has started pushing OS 5.0.0.328 to BlackBerry Desktop Manager for all Storm owners to install 24 minutes after we leaked it. If you haven't gotten the alert already it's time to fire up BlackBerry Desktop Manager Software (you too Mac users!) and see if it's there waiting for you. It's now up at http://vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry/ as well.

OS 5.0 brings with it some significant changes to the OS and should correct a lot of issues some of you were having with your BlackBerry Storm 9530's and being an official OS you can load it without any worries of running beta software.

It looks like a Chinese site has posted OS 5.0.0.140 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530. This is a recent development so we don't have many details, but if you're willing to give it a shot, let us know the results. Keep in mind that because OS 5.0 is not official yet, a lot of your existing apps may not work on 5.0 even with a successful operating system upgrade. If you are asked for a password when extracting the file, use "raysource".

BlackBerry Storm OS 5.0.0.92 Sneak Peek And Mini Review

Well, we all know the Storm 2 is on it's way but for all you original Storm owners, RIM has not forgotten you exist. Development of the 5.0 OS for current Storm versions steams ahead just as it does for all other 5.0 upgradeable devices and today we get a look at the new OS. Albeit, not a huge look but hey, it's better then no look--which is what we have really had up until now.

9530 (Storm) v. 4.7.0.OOAKDPC v5.92 with 5.0/.151/.148 OS HYBRID

I recently uploaded this new hybrid OS bc the previous i was running into some complications. Some of those complications consisted of memory leak and battery not lasting a day. I finally got fed up and decided it was time for a new upgrade. i found this one and i'm hearing good things about it. This is OneOfaKindDPC's hyrbid version of the 95xx OS.

This hybrid is a hybrid of hybrids. It consists of 151 files, Lyricidal's 5.0 files, files from v4 of my hybrid, plus some other tweaks I have added all over .148 to bring the whole things together.

This hybrid is slimmed down. In other words several none essential programs have been removed to allow for the most possible free memory without out degrading the functionality of the storm. Please read the list of things removed before installing this hybrid as you have the ability to add the things I removed back into the OS at the sacrifice of whatever memory the programs added use up.

Here's a list of all items removed: (used the terms from Lyricidal's Shrink An OS to make it easier to reinstall things that were removed later on)

-Place the 'Removed Files' folder into the 'Java" folder
-Run Shrink An OS
-Browse for the 148 folder
-Check the items you want put back in
-Click 'Put It Back!'
-Install the OS

BlackBerry Storm 9530 OS 4.7.0.148 Available This Pass Sunday!!

After hearing that OS 4.7.0.141 failed Verizon testing, and seeing yesterdays MR2 info sheet, everyone has been getting a bit anxious waiting for something from Big Red. Verizon released OS 4.7.0.148 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 this Sunday, May 31st at 3pm EST.

Customers will be able to get the update via the Web at www.blackberry.com/update beginning Sunday, May 31 from 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Verizon Wireless will also be rolling this update out to customers through an over-the-air download beginning Sunday night (10 p.m. Eastern Time). To get the download over the air, go to Options> Advanced Options > Wireless Updates.

How To Install Lyricidal's 148/5.0 Hybrid Video

Previously we posted the Leaked: OS 4.7.0.148 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530!. After any leaked OS, there are various BB Gurus that like to tweak the OS to maximize your device. They take out the bad scripts, add good ones from previous Leaked OS, and take out the script that are just taking up space. You will notice that they call them Hybrid OS. Our friend LYRICIDAL from the crackberry forums is one of those Gurus. I usually load his OS to my phone and have no problems with them but i wait about a week before loading it bc i like to read what people have to say about it and that gives him enough time to tweak it more into perfection. With loading these OS, it can be somewhat confusion. I know this first hand bc I too was confused but now I'm a pro at it. LYRICIDAL has made it even more easier by providing a video with step by step instructions. According to the youtube video...

In the Video:
First, I will find out if I have an x64 or x86 system
Next, I will install .148
Upon completion of that, I will install the hybrid

Second is the JAVA Folder that LYRICIDAL has formed. You will replace one of these folders, depending on your type of computer, with the folder in the .148 folder.

CrackBerry member the.abyzz dropped off a present in the forums this morning in the form of a link to an unofficial copy of OS 4.7.0.141 for the BlackBerry Storm 9500 (not 9530). The word in the forums is that RIM's internal development has now stopped on 4.7 and it's all 5.0 work from here on out, so this is likely one of the last 4.7 builds we'll see pop up for the Storm.

Sorry for slacking today, but i figured this would make it up alil. I know it's not the official Verizon release many of you have been waiting for, but it is perhaps one step closer, and for Telus customers not trying out unofficial releases, it's a must. If you didn't grab 4.7.0.122 from Bell a few weeks back, head on over and get the latest official release from Telus Mobility. Leaked: OS 4.7.0.132 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530!

Here goes another one. At this point, i'm getting alil bit tired of the new Leaks every week. This morning, I was contemplating on upgrading to LYRICIDAL .131/5.0.0.90 Hybrid (.122 Radio) version but i haven't really read any great reviews on it. Alot of people have had problems loading the latest OS version. Now i find that a new OS has been leaked, 4.7.0.132 for the Storm 9530. If the link gets pulled, be sure to go to the forum thread for more download mirrors, etc. posted by users. Be sure to read OS 4.7.0.132 Findings and Fixes Thread to see what people have to say about the New OS.

As for me, DataBoy, I'm sticking with what i have 9530 OS .122/5.0.0.90[9000] Hybrid (BETA). I will continue researching and tell everyone when i take the jump to the new OS.
