Storm 2 could drop on Verizon sooner than expected

Could we be saying goodbye to the BlackBerry Storm sooner than expected? BlackBerryOS forum moderator BlackBerryOS claims to have received some intel from a senior-level insider at Verizon. Said intel suggests that Verizon Wireless employees are already undergoing training for the upcoming BlackBerry Storm 2. More importantly, he claims that the Storm 2 could be released as early as this month, and insists it will be available by the end of June at the latest. Wow. Could the Storm 2 be slated to drop even before VZW deals the BlackBerry Tour? The email goes on to cover the presence of Wi-Fi in the Storm 2, though we’ve already confirmed that back in April.

Palm Pre release date and pricing announced; June 6th for $199.99

As predicted, Palm has just gone ahead and announced the Palm Pre release date and pricing information for the device’s debut on Sprint. It’s $199.99 after a $100 MIR on a 2-year agreement (copying Apple, much?) and will indeed be released on Saturday June 6th online and in Sprint stores in addition to Best Buy, Radio Shack and Wal-Mart. Oh, and in case you’re dying to blow some cash on some Pre accessories, the Touchstone Charging Kit goes on sale the same day for $69.99 and will comes with the Touchstone charging dock and battery cover. A bit steep, but it’s not like we expected it to be anything but.

Windows Marketplace for Mobile to allow multiple app installs

Microsoft’s Windows Marketplace for Mobile is reportedly instituting a very customer friendly application sharing policy. According to circulating reports, customers who purchase apps from the online storefront will be able to install those apps on up to five Windows Mobile devices at no additional cost. Most normal people, will not own five Windows Mobile 6.5 devices so customers will presumably be able to share purchased apps by authorizing the mobile phones of close family and friends. Daniel Bouie, senior product planner for Microsoft, says that the company “sees this as a permanent feature, and we’ve gotten great positive feedback from the vast majority of developers we’ve talked with about this.”

Ex-Globalive employee gets revenge by leaking the crap out of the upcoming carrier’s plans

Okay, so get a load of this. Apparently (please note the emphasis) a former employee of Globalive aka Global Wireless, the next big Canadian wireless provider that is building a UMTS / HSPA network with service planned for all provinces and territories excluding Québec, recently got canned for “poor performance in marketing”. This of course led to him logging on to HoFo and leaking everything about the carrier’s plans except what the CEO ate for breakfast. There is tons of stuff to cover and the slides are pretty grainy at best. If even half of this stuff is true, the Canadian wireless landscape is about to make a serious shift for the better starting in Q4.

Thanks, “Ex-Global Wireless Employee”!

MySpace App Updated - More On The Way?

Here's one for all the MySpace fans out there. As of now, MySpace is currently sitting at version 1.5.1.7 as it was recently updated. The updates don't stop there and they are seemingly just on hold for the moment. 1.5.1 is rumored to be released soon for all as it has been noted that it is now being pushed down to US Cellular devices.

Sadly, as always with RIM developed applications, there is no official change log with the update, but 1.5.1 is said to have made the application light by offering seperate downloads of language files, increased mood and friend updates (to 25) and more languages such as Brazilian & EU Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese & Russian.
