Verizon Storm Users - 9530 .122/5.0.0.90[9000] Hybrid (BETA)

We wanted to share this even though this was posted on Crackberry Forum on 04-11-2009(We didn't start this blog until 4/19/09). Our friend LYRICIDAL from Crackberry forum posted the 9530 OS .122/5.0.0.90[9000] Hybrid (BETA). Since The Bold Leaked OS 5.0, he was able to get 5.0.0.90 files from the BOLD LEAK to work with the 9530 Storm. This is the OS DataBoy is currently running on his BB STORM and he hasn't had any complaints. LYRICIDAL provides installation instructions on his post.

Here is what a fellow crackberry head had to say about this OS:
"Yeah it worked on my VZ 9530 I just installed it right now it was simple! coming from .75 and so far after it installed I can see a difference in how the phone responds quicker. Did a battery pull right now, I checked the memory and I was at 27MB so hopefully it is a lot more after the battery pull...got tired of VZW lagging it with a new offical OS!"

****OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software.****

Hope you enjoy.

I recommend you reading The Fixes and Findings Forum Thread before you upgrade your OS. I usually wait a few days to see what people say about it bc sometimes its not all its cracked up to be.

^^^^^^UPDATE ^^^^^^
For my Fellow Verizon Storm User, our friend LYRICIDAL concocted .122/.131[9500] Hybrid as there is no .131 out for The Storm yet. He also provides installation instructions

Windows Mobile 6.5 comes to life on May 11th

Microsoft has identified May 11th as the official release date for Windows Mobile 6.5, according to a corporate blog. The date coincides with the opening of Microsoft's TechEd 2009 conference, where developers and IT specialists will be given a demonstration of the OS accompanied by a list of planned changes. TechEd visitors will also have the option of attending separate sessions on v6.5 topics, such as touch and gesture commands.

An updated Windows Mobile may be critical to the software's persistence. Though currently widespread amongst smartphones, the v6.1 OS is threatened by a growing wave of platforms more friendly to touch commands, such as the Apple iPhone and the Palm Pre. Windows Mobile 6.5 has been designed to be easier to use on touch displays, for instance through the accommodation of large icons on the Home screen. Phones preloaded with the OS are not expected until the fall.

Samsung Instinct S30 now available from Sprint

While this handset didn’t receive as much fanfare as its predecessor, it’s still a decent upgrade for those who are currently on Sprint. The S30 is much like its older sibling but Samsung has trimmed a lot of the fat and made the UI a little more user friendly. The glitches and bugs that plagued the first Instinct should be ironed out now as well.

Palm Pre webOS - new Sprint Commercial

There's no mention of BlackBerry smartphones in the video above and a Palm Pre is shown at the end, but no matter how you slice it this latest commercial from Sprint is pretty cool. Give it a watch for some geeky data stats that'll make you sound smart at the dinner table tonight!

It was pretty clear from the start that Palm has big plans for webOS — despite blogger excitement when the company confirmed more webOS handsets would be coming, Palm obviously didn’t build a new OS from the ground up for one device. What has been and is still up in the air however, is how developers will respond to webOS and its development environment, the Mojo SDK. Palm, like other smartphone companies, will be relying heavily on third parties to enhance its platform by introducing exciting, innovative and useful applications. We know the Pre is sexy and we know the webOS UI is sexy, but what about the guts? According to Network World, developers who have been checking out the SDK so far seem to feel that Mojo is both very inviting and easy to work with. Score. Palm chose JavaScript, HTML and CSS the foundation for apps and as such, there is nothing new for developers to learn. If they can build a web page, they can build a webOS app. Christian Sepulveda, vice president of business development at Pivotal Labs is quoted as saying, “It’s a completely new way of thinking about an OS on mobile devices.” He’s right of course -Palm has taken old and familiar technology accessible to just about any device out there, and hidden it beneath a stunning UI and UX. We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to see what devices can do with this killer combo.
