Hybrid OS 8330 v4.5.0.160/.131

A hybrid OS consisting of v4.5.0.160 as the base OS with the radio, phone app, and profiles app from v4.5.0.131. This hybrid is very stable. We have not had any issues that can be found in the 4.5.0.138 and 4.5.0.160 OS releases like RF/network indicator cycling between 1XEV, 1X, 1x, 1xev, and the chirp/squelch audio problem during a call with this hybrid OS. There were also some people experiencing problems with their profiles getting lost with .160

Run a backup first and back up your third party apps.

Extract the files from the zip folder. You can download the zip folder HERE.

Download/install v4.5.0.160 from here:

Telus Mobility
Megashares
MEGAUPLOAD

After installed navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete the vendor.xml file.

Then go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8330-v4.5.0.160_P3.4.0.41 but don't open the CDMA or Java folder yet then move the Phone.alx file from the zip folder and replace it with the one you see in the window.

A window will open and you need to select Move and Replace or you can copy and paste whichever you prefer.

Next open the CDMA folder and move/replace the rim8330c.sfi file.

Next open the Java folder and move/replace all the net_rim_bb files from the zip folder.

When all of that is finished you can free up a little more memory by removing the carrier themes with CrackMem. You can use CrackMem to wipe and load the OS if you can get your BB to connect. I couldn't get CrackMem to cooperate so I used JL Cmder.

CrackMem.zip

Run CrackMem (you don't need to plug in your BB yet) and select/confirm your operating system. Then check the check boxes for everything you want removed from the OS and select Execute Selections. Then close CrackMem. This removed the files for everything you wanted removed and put them in a folder in the Research In Motion folder. Like I said above if you can get your BB to connect to CrackMem then go ahead and use it to wipe and load the OS. I got tired of messing with it

wipe your BB then navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and double click the loader.exe (folder with a cellphone on it) file to launch the application loader and load your hybrid.

When the OS load is complete you can close the application loader and run DM and restore your backup and third party apps.

I know it sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't

Concept Phone to Enable 3-Track Recording and Music Editing

The Future is here. When DataBoy first saw this, he went crazy. Today a design company called Pilotfish unveiled a concept phone, called the Ondo. The phone's main features will be aimed at music enthusiasts, and will include the ability to record three separate audio tracks and edit them by twisting and bending the phone. The Ondo will have three detachable microphones, which are also part of the Ondo's main OLED display, that can be attached to instruments or people to capture audio. Three different users will also be able to record in three separate locations and upload the recordings to a client for editing. The control pad on the lower part of the phone will change depending on what mode the phone is in. Pilotfish hopes to bring the Ondo to market within several years.
