No job, no house, but I'm not giving up my BlackBerry!

Recently Michelle Obama went to serve food to the homeless at a government funded soup kitchen.

Cost of a bowl of soup at homeless shelter: $0.00 dollars

Having Michelle Obama serve you your soup: $0.00 dollars

Snapping a picture of a homeless person who is receiving a government funded meal
while taking a picture of the first lady using his $500 BlackBerry cell phone: Priceless

Samsung unveils the Omnia Pro B7610 and the B7320, also an Omnia Pro

As if we weren’t confused enough already with the whole Louvre/Omnia Pro situation, this morning Samsung has gone ahead and introduced two different devices with the same name at the CommunicAsia trade show. To be officially known as the Omnia Pro B7610 and Omnia Pro B7320 (for now, at least), the former is the touchscreen QWERTY slider we’ve seen a lot of over the past few days while the latter goes the full-QWERTY candy bar route. Just to make matters even more frustrating, Samsung isn’t exactly giving out much in the way of details other than the same old spiel about how the two devices are a part of its “mobile convergence plan” to “reinforce its status as a leader” in the mobile phone industry. Uh huh. Luckily it looks like the rumored specs of the B7610 were pretty accurate so at least the more desirable of the two phones is well covered.

Sneek Peak At The New BlackBerry Messenger!

One of the greatest functions of BlackBerry devices is BlackBerry messenger. Sadly though over the years BlackBerry Messenger has seen little to no changes in it's looks or functionality since it's incarnation. That is, until now. The Boy Genius has posted some nice images of the as of yet unreleased BlackBerry Messenger and I have to say it looks great especially with some of the new features implemented, the list while not complete looks awesome and I can't wait to see it in action. Hit the Jump for more Details...

New features include:

Avatar support — set your own avatar using the Camera or saved photo on your device (this is displayed locally as well as shown next to your Messenger name on your friend’s buddy list)

GPS location integration — you can now set permissions so friends can always see your location, have to request it each time, or never can see it

Proximity sensor — we’re guessing this will let you know if you’re within a certain distance of friends (pending, of course, you’re both set to share locations freely with each other)

Set conversation subjects — this will allow you to organize your convos on the main Messenger screen and label them with subjects to keep track of all your conversations

Homescreen support — you can pin/sticky actual Messenger contacts directly to the homescreen for easy access!

Some nice additions there that I can't wait to see released, be sure to head on over to Boy Genius Report where there is a whole gallery of pictures for you all too drool over in anticipation of it's release. Side note, those of you running 5.0 now, this is the reason your BBM shows an install of 4.7 currently as this version is still in beta.

Nokia E72 and 5530 officially unveiled in Singapore

Surprise, surprise! Shortly after showing up on YouTube, Nokia has officially announced the Nokia E72 alongside the 5530 XpressMusic at Connection 2009 in Singapore. The E72 is a worthy successor to the E71 with 10.2Mbps capabilities (where networks allow, of course), an integrated compass, S60 3rd Edition FP2 and a 5 megapixel camera. In slightly less glamorous news, the 5530 will be an EDGE phone with a 3.2 megapixel camera and a 640 x 360 touchscreen, which we’re hoping will at least be resistive. Although it has Wi-Fi, there is no 3G to be found and that leaves us speechless. Seriously, Nokia? You put out a phone capable of speeds over 10Mbps and you’re still making EDGE-only phones? Ok fine, this will help make the phone insanely accessible compared to the competition but sheesh, are 3G radios that expensive? The E72 and 5530 XpresMusic will be available in the third quarter for about $489 and $278, respectively. Hit the Jump for more Details...
